The illustrious and enchanting Christina Aguilera began her career at only eight years old with a debut on the nationally televised show\u00a0Star Search<\/i>.\u00a0At 12, she won a role on the All-New Mickey Mouse Club<\/i>. She\u2019s known throughout the world as a legendary performer, Grammy Award winner and actress and, to add to her accolades, is bilingual and one of the few pop stars who has dominated the Billboard<\/i> charts in both English and Spanish. In 2013, she was named\u00a0as one of the \u201c100 Most Influential People in the World\u201d by Time Magazine<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

She co-starred opposite Cher in the musical Burlesque<\/i> and was nominated for a Golden Globe for co-writing the song, Bound to You<\/i>, which she sang in the movie. She has a host of television and movie credits but her passion is performing. She\u2019s a superstar but first and foremost, a loving and devoted mother; her children are always her top priority. The megastar gave Travelgirl<\/i> Publisher Renee Werbin the inside story on the roots of her passion for performing, and how she balances travel, work and motherhood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travelgirl: We are incredibly honored to have you aboard; you\u2019ve inspired us with your talent and your illustrious career.\u00a0I\u2019ve read that you knew almost since birth that you wanted to be a singer. Who inspired you at a young age to pursue a musical career?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Christina Aguilera: <\/b><\/span>I\u2019ve always been inspired by Julie Andrews and Whitney Houston.\u00a0Their talents and success continue to encourage me to be my best in all that I do!<\/p>\n

TG: Your career took off when you were only eight years old; you debuted on national television on the show\u00a0Star Search<\/i>.\u00a0At 11, you became the youngest person to perform the national anthem at a major sporting event.\u00a0Then at 12, you auditioned for the\u00a0All-New Mickey Mouse Club<\/i>\u00a0in 1989, won the part, and stayed with the show until it closed.\u00a0How did fame at such a young age affect you?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/b><\/span> My career, from the beginning until this day, has molded me into the woman I am today.\u00a0I am grateful to have the opportunities that I earned at such a young age. Now with social media it is a much different landscape for young performers \u2013 we did not have a way to capture the attention of fans outside of existing mediums such as TV stations and record companies.\u00a0Doing the things I did at such a young age was very special and memorable; I would not trade it for anything.<\/span><\/p>\n

TG: You\u2019ve amassed a wealth of prestigious awards including being named by\u00a0Time Magazine<\/i>\u00a0as one of the \u201c100 Most Influential People in the World\u201d in 2013. You are a multi-platinum <\/b><\/span>and six-time Grammy Award-winning entertainer.\u00a0Rolling <\/i><\/b>Stone<\/i> Magazine<\/i>\u00a0is quoted as saying \u201cyour video, Dirrty, is the most played music video of all time. \u201d You are a shining star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and you were nominated for a Golden Globe for co-writing a song for the movie Burlesque<\/i>, in which you co-starred with Cher and earned very favorable reviews for your acting acumen. You\u2019re a superstar but first and foremost, a mother.\u00a0 <\/span>How do you balance your career and your family?\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/b> <\/span>First, thank you for recognizing all of this, wow!\u00a0Being a parent is also a full-time job and that is my top priority, but it\u2019s no different than everyone else around the world who raises families and works while doing so!\u00a0I would say the most challenging part of balancing work-life for me is the travel \u2013 and making sure that my kids feel safe and comfortable on the road with me.\u00a0We\u2019ve turned my career into an adventure for them!<\/p>\n

TG: What advice do you have for your children concerning a career choice?\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA: <\/b><\/span>Do whatever makes you happy!<\/p>\n

TG: You are a singer, performer, songwriter, actress, and television personality. Which role is the most engaging for you?\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA: <\/b><\/span>Being a performer and artist is my passion \u2013 it\u2019s what I was put on this earth to do! I cannot imagine myself doing anything other than performing.<\/p>\n

TG:\u00a0You are garnering rave reviews; The Xperience at Zappos Theater is the talk of the town? How do you describe it?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/span> <\/b><\/span>I am so proud of my show at the Zappos Theater! I knew that when I finally decided to put on a residency, it would have to be a place I called home \u2013 and the show would have to be more than just a concert. With that in mind, as I built The Xperience, I wanted to create a safe zone for people to experience more than just music, but to feel things, smell things and hear things that invoke a range of emotions and a lot of excitement.\u00a0Our show certainly brings all the elements into the spotlight and continues to evolve.\u00a0Wear comfy shoes \u2013 you\u2019ll be on your feet!<\/p>\n

TG: I can only imagine the incredible amount of work it takes to gather the materials, the costumes, the sets and the songs for a show of this magnitude. How did you prepare for this theatrical experience?\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA: <\/b><\/span>It takes a village.\u00a0I couldn\u2019t do it without the help of my band, dancers, costumers, engineers, crew and so on. We had months of meetings and planning with each department to put together The Xperience.<\/p>\n

TG: When you get time to yourself, do you have a favorite travel destination that you return to year after year?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/strong> <\/span>Tokyo, Japan \u2013 my favorite!<\/p>\n

TG: What\u2019s on Christina Aguilera\u2019s travel bucket list?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/span> <\/b><\/span>It\u2019s no secret that I love Japan \u2013 and I would love to experience living there with my family for a short period of time \u2013 something more than a vacation. I love exposing my kids to new experiences and showing them how other cultures and people live in other parts of the world.<\/p>\n

TG: Is there one item you never leave home without when you head out on a trip?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/b><\/span> My CDs and DVDs \u2013 I\u2019m old school, and while I\u2019m down with digital, I love having my discs with me.<\/p>\n

TG: Please share your sage advice for young people who want to follow in your famous footsteps and become a singer.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

CA:<\/span> <\/b><\/span>The biggest thing I would tell other young artists is that it\u2019s OK to say \u201cNo\u201d and it\u2019s OK to voice your opinion.\u00a0Always remember and keep close the ones who love you unconditionally, and remember to enjoy the moment always! Growing is a constant process.<\/p>\n

CA: <\/b><\/span>I\u2019m not shy about having grown up in an environment that was witness to domestic issues \u2013 and it\u2019s imperative that I help support those who currently are affected by domestic abuse or violence.\u00a0The Shade Tree is an incredible organization in Nevada that serves those in need of help \u2013 and I could not think of a more fitting place for me to donate my voice and aid.<\/p>\n
